Privacy Policy
Effective July 17, 2026
Vidi is an interactive, AI-generated short-form drama app operated by Vidi Interactive, Inc. (“Vidi,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect through the Vidi mobile app and watchvidi.com (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions any time: hello@watchvidi.com.
1. Information we collect
Account information
You sign in with Apple or Google. From your sign-in provider we receive your email address, your name (if shared), and a unique account identifier. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email,” we only ever see the private relay address. We also record your confirmation that you meet our minimum age (we do not collect your date of birth).
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card details. We receive purchase records (product, price tier, timestamps, an anonymized transaction identifier) through Apple and our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat, so we can credit coins, activate memberships, and honor restores and refunds. We also keep your in-app coin balance and a ledger of how coins were earned and spent.
Activity in the app
- Episodes you watch, unlock, and bookmark, and where you left off
- Story choices you make at decision points
- Daily streaks, milestones, and rewards you claim
- “Notify me” votes on upcoming shows
- Rewarded ads you complete (so we can credit the coins)
Device and technical data
Device model, operating system version, app version, language, IP address (processed transiently to deliver the Service, e.g. by our video CDN), and — only if you turn notifications on — a push notification token.
What we do not collect
No precise location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone or camera access, no biometric data, and no user-posted content — Vidi has no comments, uploads, or messaging.
2. How we use information
- Operate the Service: play episodes, save your progress, branch stories on your choices
- Run the coin economy and memberships: credit purchases, unlock episodes, prevent fraud
- Send push notifications you opted into (new episodes, story updates, streak reminders) — you can turn these off in iOS Settings at any time
- Understand aggregate usage and fix crashes so the app improves
- Show optional rewarded ads that fund free episodes
- Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (running the Service), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Service), and your consent (push notifications, ad-related consent and tracking, where required), which you can withdraw at any time.
3. AI-generated content and your data
Every episode in Vidi — video, characters, and voices — is AI-generated fiction. Two things follow for your privacy:
- We do not use your personal information to train AI models. Our content is generated from our own scripts and reference material, not from user data.
- Story branches are shared. When you make a choice, the resulting episode comes from a shared library of pre-generated branches served to everyone who makes that choice. Your individual choices are stored with your account to run your story, but they are never published or attributed to you.
4. Advertising
Vidi shows optional rewarded ads (you choose to watch an ad to earn coins), served by Google AdMob. On iOS, we will only request ad tracking after you respond to Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, ads are served without cross-app tracking. In the EU/UK, Google’s consent form is shown first and ads respect your choice. Google may process device identifiers and coarse ad data as an independent provider — see Google’s advertising policy. We receive only a record that an ad was completed, which we use to credit your coins and prevent fraud. We show no other ad formats.
5. Analytics and crash reporting
We use PostHog (hosted in the United States) for product analytics — events like “episode started” or “purchase completed,” associated with your account identifier — and Sentry for crash reports, which include device and app-state information at the time of a crash. We use these to fix bugs and improve the Service, not to build advertising profiles.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the optional ad experience described above. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf:
| Provider | What it does | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and backend hosting | Account, activity, coin ledger, push tokens |
| Cloudflare | Video streaming and website delivery | IP address, playback requests |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, payments, push delivery | Sign-in identity, purchases under Apple’s own privacy policy |
| Google Sign-In; AdMob rewarded ads | Sign-in identity; ad delivery data (with consent) | |
| RevenueCat | Purchase and subscription management | Anonymized transaction records, account id |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Usage events, account id, device info |
| Sentry | Crash reporting | Crash data, device info, account id |
| Expo | Push notification delivery | Push token (only if notifications are on) |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy continues to apply to your data).
7. Data retention and deleting your account
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) — deletion is immediate and permanent, removing your account and its entire footprint: profile, unlocks, coin ledger, purchase records, choices, progress, streaks, bookmarks, and push tokens. You can also email hello@watchvidi.com and we’ll do it for you. Note that deleting your account does not cancel an active App Store subscription — manage that in your Apple ID settings. Limited records may persist where the law requires (e.g., completed transaction records for tax purposes) or in routine backups for a short period before they cycle out.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have corresponding rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them; we do not sell personal information as defined there. EU/UK residents can also lodge a complaint with their data protection authority. To exercise any right, use the in-app controls or email hello@watchvidi.com — we’ll respond within the legally required window.
9. International transfers
We are a U.S. company and process data in the United States. Where we transfer personal data from the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our service providers.
10. Children
Vidi is for mature audiences: 17+ in the United States and 16+ in the EU/UK. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent). If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@watchvidi.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
All data is encrypted in transit. Access to backend data is restricted with row-level security, video is served only through short-lived signed URLs, and payment card details never touch our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information with industry-standard measures.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect and update the date at the top of this page.
